GAME / CRAFT / LAYER / MOTION

Dates announced soon

Game on!

Ever fancied making your own video game? The video game sector is larger than film and music combined. We’re going to power you up for a future of immersive play with this brand-new session that includes character creation, platform designing, creating and customising pixel artwork and animating sprites. All whilst developing digital storytelling skills.

Digitising Craft

A digital image making workshop where tactile materials meet digital drawing. Participants will observe and use their imagination to extract hidden characters and narratives from the shapes, textures, patterns and forms they find within the Whitworth’s varied exhibits including our textile handling collection. You will craft ideas into a digital illustration using iPads to layer your own drawings on top of primary photographs. The resulting images will be used as a basis for a multistage collaborative piece blending a diverse array of media

Moving Image, Soundscape

An experimental workshop exploring light drawing and layered motion through moving image, sound and mobile phone interaction. Participants create playful visuals and responsive media using simple tools and open-ended experimentation. The session introduced moving image practices that blend drawing, photography, sound and digital play.

Get animated and bring your ideas to life

Explore the Whitworth gallery to take inspiration and storytelling ideas from the exhibitions. Using idea generation to explore the themes with stories and characters, participants can work individually or as a team to create their own short stop motion film.

Plus;

A playful, digital, accessible toolkit that can be used for all to explore experimentation, visual thinking, problem solving and storytelling in imaginative, immersive ways.

As we get closer to the event – a full description of the event will be shared, and an online digital toolkit will be available for all
